LO Leena Organica

The House

Three founders, two offices, one trade.

Leena Organica was constituted in Haarlem in February 2025 and in Cairo six weeks later. The three founders are Sherif Abushadi, Mouneer Rabie and Mohamed Soliman, all born in Menoufia in the central Nile Delta. What follows is a short letter from each, in their own words, and the registry information for the firm.

The name comes from a daughter and a grandmother — Leena is the granddaughter of one of the founders and the great-granddaughter of the grandmother whose name she carries. We considered, briefly, a more abstract name, and discarded it on a Tuesday afternoon over coffee. The house is named after a person, and so it has to behave like one.

Sherif

Trade & commercial · Haarlem

I trained as an engineer and as a software developer, and have spent the last twenty-five years building cross-border technology businesses, most of them with Mouneer. The three of us are from Menoufia in the central Nile Delta, which is part of why this firm exists. When Mouneer and Mohamed told me they wanted to start a trading house out of Cairo, I said yes the same evening.

What I do now is the European side. Buyer conversations, contracts, the carrier relationships, and the internal tooling that lets the three of us see the same numbers from Haarlem and from Cairo. I write the letters that need to be written. I keep a list, on paper, of every grower we work with and every buyer we sell to, and once a quarter I read it through to make sure both columns are still the names I want them to be.

Mouneer

Technology & sourcing · Cairo

I trained in medicine and in software, and have spent twenty-five years building products in life sciences and healthcare — lately as the co-founder and CTO of a platform called REVOSUITE that serves the pharma and medical-device sectors. Mohamed and I first worked together at Benchmark Middle East in Dubai, more than a decade ago. Sherif I have known since we were very young; he and I are both from Menoufia.

At Leena I sit between the technology and the sourcing. I write the systems that the trade desk runs on, and I sit with our growers when contracts get signed at planting. I am in Cairo five days a week and on the road the other two; the road, these days, is mostly between Beheira and Damietta. If you are an Egyptian organic grower and you would like to talk, I am the one to write to.

Mohamed

Operations & quality · Cairo

I am a chartered accountant. I have been one for twenty-six years — Egyptian register number 22030. I spent three years as CFO of Benchmark Middle East in Dubai, where I worked alongside Mouneer; before and since I have worked on the financial side of a number of firms, and on a number of trades, including in import and export. I co-founded Vandorv four years ago and still serve on the board. The three of us are from Menoufia.

At Leena I am the one on the ground. I walk the fields when we sign a contract at planting, the packhouses when we run the audits, and the distribution warehouses when a shipment arrives. The work is mostly relationships and paperwork. It is what the firm is built on, and it is what we sell.
